Active Power over Ethernet (POE) is required where the ethernet cable (CAT5) is longer than 20m. Active POE uses a higher voltage on the CAT5 cable to reduce the DC current, and hence the resistive voltage loss in the cable. The unit includes Electrostatic Discharge Protection (ESD) on the CAT5 data leads.
This Active POE Injector is suitable for use with:
- Any POE compatible device that needs appox. 48 VDC. (e.g. IP Cameras, some VoIP phones, ..)
- Some Ubiquiti™ Products (i.e. the ones using 48V POE).
- devices with 1000Mbps (GbE) Gigabit ethernet ports
Typical Use
The usual use of the POE Set is shown in the diagram below. Note: All items in the diagram except the Injector and 240V Power Cable are not included in this product.
