Freenet Antennas is an authorised reseller of Ubiquiti products in Australia.

Why Ubiquiti?

Ubiquiti products are carrier-class, meaning they are ideal for:
  • Wireless ISPs (WISPs),
  • Companies needing to deploy robust equipment with very powerful network management features, or
  • End users needing top performance gear.
All Ubiquiti products include:
  • An Operating System. For most products the OS is AirOS™ - Ubiquiti's powerful operating system and Graphic User Interface (GUI). For some of the embedded systems (boards) the OS is OpenWRT.
  • Two Network modes that apply between the wired (ethernet) and wireless interfaces:
    • Router - with common internet gateway features like NAT Firewall, PPPoE, etc.
    • Bridge - transparent bridging.
  • Four Wireless modes that apply to the radio interface:
    • AP. Access Point mode is a standard 802.11 Access Point.
    • Station. Sometimes called 'Client' mode, this connects to an AP.
    • AP WDS. (AP + MULTI-POINT BRIDGE). This mode is the combination of an AP and a Multi-Point Bridge with up to 6 WDS transparent bridge connections.
    • Station WDS. (SINGLE POINT BRIDGE) This mode makes a transparent bridge connection to a unit in AP WDS mode as one of the 6 WDS peers.
  • Advanced Featutres like:
    • Wireless Traffic Shaping. Dedicated upstream and downstream bandwidth control.
    • QoS. Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) Quality of Service prioritisation for Voice and Video.

We only supply World Version Ubiquiti units

Don't get USA-Locked products by mistake!

In mid-2011 Ubiquiti started selling two models of every product with a radio:
  • USA-Locked: This is what most USA suppliers sell - as required by the USA FCC. These units can ONLY operate on US frequencies. We use different frequencies in Australia. You can not change the 'Country' selection in the web interface. There is no way around this - even re-loading new firmware.
  • World Version: These are only for sale outside USA and can use all legal frequency band available in Australia.
Freenet Antennas only sell World Version units.

Centrally Manage 100s of Ubiquiti Devices - Loaded with Powerful Features

AirControl is a free, powerful, and intuitive web based server network management application which allows operators to centrally manage entire networks of Ubiqutii devices.

Distinguishing Features

Discover Ubiquiti devices

Discover Ubiquiti devices (access points and stations) within subnet(s) associated to the servers network interface(s). The discovery scan works exactly as found in the existing Ubiquiti discovery tool. In addition, for devices not discovered through scan, there is an option to add a device manually by specifying its IP address or an IP range to scan for devices.

Connect devices, report device status

Devices that are under "management" will periodically report runtime status to the AirControl server, which will monitor status updates.

Firmware update

Devices that are under management can be updated from AirControl. Multiple devices can be updated as a single batch. Firmware images are uploaded by the administrator into AirControl prior to device update.

View runtime status

The main screen allows reporting on any of the runtime attributes from the device in either the device table or the device details view. The output can be customized.

Device Grouping

A device tree provides for easy navigation and device selection. Built-in auto-groupings categorize discovered devices by network ID (ESSID) and firmware version. The device tree can be customized by adding custom device groups ("watch lists"). These can be either static groups or dynamic groups, based on reporting criteria.

Device activity log/history

Reporting of history for specific device in the details area, for the entire system in the log screen and for current activity with the "Live Log" popup. The main screen will also indicate in-progress activity.

Access to UI through web

Server application with access to user interface through web browser (HTTP or HTTPS). Multiple users can access single server, no installation required on client other than the web browser. Broad platform support (server runs on every platform for which Sun's Java 6 is available).
