Freenet Antennas is an authorised reseller of Ubiquiti products in Australia.
Why Ubiquiti?
Ubiquiti products are carrier-class, meaning they are ideal for:
- Wireless ISPs (WISPs),
- Companies needing to deploy robust equipment with very powerful network management features, or
- End users needing top performance gear.
All Ubiquiti products include:
- An Operating System. For most products the OS is AirOS™ - Ubiquiti's powerful operating system and Graphic User Interface (GUI). For some of the embedded systems (boards) the OS is OpenWRT.
- Two Network modes that apply between the wired (ethernet) and wireless interfaces:
- Router - with common internet gateway features like NAT Firewall, PPPoE, etc.
- Bridge - transparent bridging.
- Four Wireless modes that apply to the radio interface:
- AP. Access Point mode is a standard 802.11 Access Point.
- Station. Sometimes called 'Client' mode, this connects to an AP.
- AP WDS. (AP + MULTI-POINT BRIDGE). This mode is the combination of an AP and a Multi-Point Bridge with up to 6 WDS
transparent bridge connections.
- Station WDS. (SINGLE POINT BRIDGE) This mode makes a transparent bridge connection to a unit in AP WDS mode as one of the 6 WDS peers.
- Advanced Featutres like:
- Wireless Traffic Shaping. Dedicated upstream and downstream bandwidth control.
- QoS. Wi-Fi Multimedia (WMM) Quality of Service prioritisation for Voice and Video.

Mesh Networking with Open-Mesh
Ubiquiti™ Bullet2, NanoStation2, NanoStation2Loco, PicoStation, and PicoStation2Loco products support mesh networking using the free Open-Mesh firmware and management system.
Open-Mesh creates ultra low-cost, zero-config, plug & play wireless mesh network solutions that spread an Internet connection throughout a hotel, apartment, neighbourhood, village, coffee shop, shopping mall, campground, marina, or just about anywhere else you can imagine.
Using Open-Mesh, all the device configuration is done via the Open-Mesh.com server and your browser. That means you can remotely configure your mesh devices from anywhere in the world.
What can your Open-Mesh devices do?
- Build fault-tolerant meshes. One advantage of a mesh network is that they can be inherently tolerant of a broken link, so long as there is an alternate path between the end points. Non-redundant meshes are great for simple expansion of a network.
- Be standard APs - all meshed together. The devices automatically talk to each other and work out where the Internet connection is.
- Be Hotspots - stand-alone, or meshed together. You can make a single device hotspot (paid for use) or a captive portal (free use) for your customers. And you can expand this system by simply adding more units that join the main unit and extend the coverage. Great for Hotels/Motels.
- Cap user bandwidth - so there is enough bandwidth available for everyone.
- Have a custom-designed 'splash page' your users will see when they first browse. You get a complete WYSIWYG editor and have complete control over this page. You can also set a "redirect URL" that will take users to a page of your choosing once they click to enter.
- And more.

Externally Rated CAT5 Cables
POE Injectors
 | We recommend you do not use passive POE injectors (like the one shown) for Ubiquiti gear as these have no ESD/Surge protection.

- 15V. Recommended for most Ubiquiti™ products and applications with up to 40m of CAT5 cable.
- 18V. Recommended for CAT5 cable runs between 40 and 100 m.
