These cables are factory made to Freenet Antennas specifications. The unique features of these cables are:
- Externally rated (weatherproof) cable jacket. This means the cable jacket can be deployed outdoors with no additional protection from sun/rain.
- Weatherproof Gland included. As the most common use for these cables is with externally-mounted APs in enclosures, they incude a weatherproof (IP65 rating) cable gland.
POE (Power over Ethernet) cables are an excellent solution if you want to locate your Access Point (AP) close to your antenna to minimize signal loss in the antenna cable, but there is no power point handy at that location. For example:
- AP located in the roof space
- AP located in a weatherproof enclosure outdoors
WARNINGPOE will not work for all types of APs. The issue is that there will be some drop of the power supply voltage along the Ethernet cable. The more current the AP draws, the more the voltage drop. For that reason, there are limits on the maximum POE length for each type of AP.
Freenet Antennas has confirmed these APs work perfectly with up to 20m of POE cable:
