Custom made to Freenet Antennas specifications!
This magnetic-base mount is unique in the world. Freenet Antennas was so frustrated trying to locate a mag-base that was rated to 2.4 GHz that we finally had these custom made to our specs as we could not find any mag-bases that worked properly. Plenty of companies sell mag-bases that work fine at Ham Radio/CB frequencies, with a 2.4 GHz antenna attached....but they do not work. ThOse dodgy mag-bases can be identified as having one or more of these features - which you don't want:
- Wrong cable! Often RG58 cable is used on mag-bases. This cable is too lossy at 2.4 GHz (WiFi) frequencies, resulting in a much lower signal.
- Wrong connector! Often a PL-259 (aka "UHF") connector is used. But this is only rated to 0.5 GHz. If you use one at 2.4 GHz, again you suffer from excessive signal loss.
