The Intennatm is an integrated antenna and IP65 rated weatherproof enclosure. Mount your AP of choice inside the antenna. It is an ideal CPE (Customer Premise Equipment) unit where the access point/client is kept safely hidden.

This industrial quality unit has an enclosure made of cast-metal with fins to ensure maximum passive cooling. The antenna design uses a polarised, phased-array giving very high gain.

Applications

  • Point to Point links (both ends)
  • Point to Multipoint links (one end)
  • Customer Premise Equipment (CPE)

Features

  • High gain, low profile
  • Outdoor use. Corrosion resistant
  • Vertical or Horizontal polarization
  • Supplied with mast mounting kit. This kit includes adjustment for elevation (up and down)
  • Cast metal enclosure, giving low heat buildup, and improved lightning protection.
  • Complete with PG9 cable gland. This means it is Power over Ethernet (POE) ready.

Performance

At Freenet Antennas we like to do real-world tests rather than relying on just specification sheets. See below the results of some real-world Intennatm tests.

These test show that a pair of Intennatms can easily do a 20 km link.

  • TEST 1
    • Distance: 18.5 km
    • AP End: Intennatm with 90 mW UltraWAP installed. Mode = AP.
    • Client End: Intennatm with 90 mW UltraWAP installed. Mode = Station Infrastucture (Client).
    • Measured signal: 24/100
    • Calculated signal: -75 dBm (from here)
    • Calculated throughput: 11 Mbps (from here)
  • TEST 2
    • Distance: 18.5 km
    • AP End: Intennatm with 90 mW UltraWAP installed. Mode = AP.
    • Client End: Intennatm with UltraUSB installed. Mode = Station Infrastucture (Client).
    • Measured signal: 36%
    • Calculated signal: -78 dBm
    • Connect speed: 18 Mbps

Example Uses

The picture shows using a USB device (UltraUSB) within an Intennatm. The USB cable is 5m; the maximum allowed in the USB specifications. Please see the USB-tenna for information on this product.

Mounting

Comes with a free pole-mount kit, as shown in these pictures. The pole mount kit allows both elevation and azimuth adjustments.

What Not to Buy

We have tested and rejected a widely available 16 dBi antenna/enclosure with these bizarre beam patterns. Any directional antenna worth its salt has a primary beam pointing out in front, with any side lobes at least 10 dB lower. The antenna we rejected is effectively cross-eyed as it has multiple main beams - none of which point out in front! Which way do you point it? And then ask yourself why is so much of the signal being wasted by pointing off in different directions!?
